Digital61 Empowers Net Zero Authority with Future-Ready IT Environment
Digital61 Secures $5M Government Managed Services Deal with NHMRC
Digital61, a leading provider of secure ICT and cyber services to government, has been selected to design and deliver a modern, secure, and scalable IT environment for the newly established Net Zero Economy Agency (NZEA) — the federal body charged with helping Australia navigate its clean energy transition.
The engagement expands Digital61’s growing portfolio of work across the clean energy and sustainability sector, which also includes support for the Clean Energy Regulator (CER). With deep experience delivering high-assurance IT environments for federal agencies, Digital61 was chosen through a competitive process to provide a full suite of managed services that meet strict government compliance, cyber, and operational standards.
“We’re honoured to support the Net Zero Economy Agency in its foundational phase,” said Marty Holden, CEO of Digital61. “This engagement reinforces our commitment to Australia’s clean energy future and showcases our unique capability to deliver secure, modern digital environments that empower government agencies from day one.”
Key services Digital61 is delivering include:
Secure Cloud-First IT Environment: Built using Digital61’s modular VelocityOps framework, supporting rapid delivery, scalability, and government-grade assurance.
Modern Identity and Access Management (IAM): Leveraging Microsoft Azure Active Directory to enable secure, role-based access and remote work.
Secure Cloud Gateway Integration: Providing seamless, policy-enforced access to internet and SaaS services while maintaining government security compliance.
End-User Compute & Device Management: Including provisioning, configuration, and remote support to empower a hybrid workforce.
Networking & Connectivity: Secure, redundant, and scalable networking foundations to support future growth and inter-agency collaboration.
Managed Security Operations Centre (SOC): Proactive threat detection, compliance monitoring, and incident response aligned with the Protective Security Policy Framework (PSPF) and ISM.
The solution is currently under delivery and will enable NZEA to onboard staff rapidly, operate flexibly across multiple sites, and collaborate securely with other government bodies as it scales its national impact.
This project builds on Digital61’s expanding role in supporting Australia’s clean energy agencies, having already delivered high-value outcomes to the Clean Energy Regulator, including the modernisation of ICT environments and implementation of Digital61’s VelocityOps methodology.
“Our vision is to be the digital partner of choice for agencies driving Australia’s energy transformation,” added Marty Holden. “This is more than a technology project — it’s about enabling government to deliver for the future.”
